We are proud to introduce the project prestaties.prorail.nl, an innovative platform designed to showcase the key performance indicators (KPIs) of ProRail in an easily accessible manner. This dashboard provides up-to-date insights into ProRail’s performance, presenting daily figures, year-to-date achievements, and last year’s statistics across six essential themes: Passenger Transport, Freight Transport, Disruptions, Safety, Sustainability, and Key Metrics.

Challenge
ProRail faces the challenge of effectively managing and improving various performance indicators while meeting the expectations and standards set by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure (Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat). This necessitates the need for a transparent, user-friendly, and comprehensive platform that not only displays the data but also communicates the ambitions (represented by target values) and the minimum acceptable standards (represented by threshold values) for each KPI.
Our solution
Our team has undertaken the task of both frontend and backend development to create a solution that meets these challenges head-on. We have designed and developed the prestaties.prorail.nl website to provide ProRail with a powerful tool to communicate its performance metrics effectively to the public. This solution not only offers a clear representation of KPIs but also clearly delineates ProRail’s ambition (highlighted as a target value with a yellow line in the graphs) and the minimum acceptable performance level (the threshold value upon which assessments are based). Furthermore, we have incorporated information indicators to ensure a comprehensive overview.
Results
The prestaties.prorail.nl website has yielded positive results for ProRail. It has empowered the organization to make data-driven decisions, enhance transparency, and engage with stakeholders more effectively. By providing real-time access to performance metrics, ProRail has been able to proactively address challenges and capitalize on opportunities. The platform’s user-friendly interface has received positive feedback from both internal and external stakeholders, fostering a better understanding of ProRail’s efforts and achievements.
